Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has announced that this year’s local transfer market will open on January 14.

Sulom general secretary Williams Banda confirmed the development saying player movements will only be allowed when the window opens and has since warned teams to stay away from player tapping.

“We will officially open the window on 14 January when player movements will be allowed,” he said.”

Banda: We are getting ready.

“As Sulom, we are warning all teams to avoid player tapping because once they are caught in this act, a stiff punishment will follow.”

Big Bullets, Mighty Wanderers, and Silver Strikers are expected to be the busiest in the window.

According to reports, the Super League champions will be the biggest spenders after securing a multi-million sponsorship deal with Nyasa Manufacturing Limited.

Levison Maganizo, Bright Munthali, Emmanuel Zoya and Ernest Tambe have all been linked with a move to Bullets while their rivals Wanderers are targeting Yamikani Chester from Azam Tigers.

The Bankers have promised to continue chasing for the signature of Epac FC’s Dalitso Mwase.

Wanderers were the biggest spenders in the just ended season when they brought in 11 new players, spending a whooping K11.5 million in the process.
