Malawian man arrested for selling fake cooking oil

Fraudulent means of earning a living in society have landed a 22 year-old man in police custody in Kasungu district.

The man who has been identified by police as Moses Phiri has been arrested for allegedly offering for sale fake cooking oil at Kayesa Trading Centre in the district.

Kasungu Police public relations officer, Inspector Edwin Kaunda, said police arrested the suspect after some members of the public complained to the law enforcers about his conduct.

“Some members, who had bought the alleged cooking oil informed us about the matter after realising that they had been tricked,” said Kaunda.

According to Kaunda, Phiri will appear before court soon to answer the charge of theft by trick.

Moses Phiri comes from Juma Village, Traditional Authority Mwase in Kasungu district.

How must these hand-2-mouth hustlers legaly sell these 20l in little fragments? OR THE SUBSTANCE BEING SOLD IS NOT COOKING OIL?
