Malawi Super league rookies, Fisd Wizards will be in serious need of victory when they play against Mighty Wanderers on Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium if they hope to avoid a devastating relegation into lower league football.

The Blantyre based club are at the bottom of the log table with 21 points from 25 games. But with just five points separating them from Dedza Young Soccer, there is still a fighting chance of surviving the chop though the chance is very slim.

In spite of a recent 1-0 loss to Azam Tigers, a game which cast serious doubts about the team’s survival chances, technical director Peter Mponda remains optimistic and is refusing to give up on his Blantyre based side.

A loss on Sunday to the Nomads will surely seal their fate considering the fact that they will still have 21 points but from 26 games with two games to spare, not enough to save them from relegation.

Another relegation threatened side Epac FC is also racing against time.

They are 14th on the log with 24 points from 26 games. Their next assignment is on Sunday against in-form Mafco FC and anything short of a win will be their highway to the grave.

Mzuni FC, with 29 points from 25 games will only need two points from their remaining games to officially seal their place in the top flight.

Their next assignment is against Super League Champions Big Bullets on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium.

Dedza Young Soccer and Airborne Rangers are also battling for their survival in the top flight.

Nevertheless, one team will exit the league this weekend; will it be Wizards, Airborne or Epac? Weekend matches will tell.
