Man drowns in Chipasula stream in Lilongwe

A 53 year-old man died on Sunday after drowning in Chipasula stream in Lilongwe, Malawi police officials say.

According to Lilongwe police publicist, Inspector Kingsley Dandaula, the deceased, Anakeles Malisen, was staying with his 85 year-old father and was mentally challenged.

He said on the previous day, the deceased left home without telling anyone of where he was going.

DrowningHe added that on the next day morning (Sunday), Maliseni was seen by some people from the area floating in Chipasula stream.

Dandaula said people reported the matter to Kawale police station and police officers rushed to the scene and took the remains to Kamuzu Central Hospital for postmortem.

He said results from the hospital revealed that the death was as a result of suffocation and said there is no suspicion of foul play.

Malisen hailed from Chimutu 2 village in the area of Traditional Authority Tsabango in Lilongwe.
