FAM unveils new commercial director

Former Malawi Broadcasting (MBC) Corporation marketing manager, Limbani Matola, has been unveiled as the new commercial director for Football Association of Malawi (Fam), filling the gap left by Dan Tambala who was relieved of his duties six months ago.

Speaking during a press briefing at Chiwembe Technical Centre on Thursday morning, Fam general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda described Matola as an expert in the marketing field and challenged him to maximise revenue through available facilities.

“We conducted interviews some months ago and Mr Matola came out top. He is an expert in this field and as an association, we believe that his vast experience will help to market the beautiful game to the corporate world,” said Nyirenda.

On his part, Matola said his main target in the first year of his contract is to market the beautiful game of football to the corporate world.

“First of all, let me thank Fam for giving me this opportunity to work at such an association. As you can see, there is alot of goodwill around these premises.”

“I will help the FA to maximise revenue from the huge base of facilities. We will engage all the stakeholders in order to sell the game to them so that the association can generate more revenue,” he said.

Matola also emphasised the need to get more revenue from existing facilities.

He said : “We have a hotel, a bar, a stadium and a conference room, we will also engage ourselves in selling replica jerseys so that we can generate something out of it.”
