The Malawi Government says it is prepared to distribute maize in all areas that have been affected by hunger in the country.
The country’s Vice President Saulos Chilima confirmed the development saying the bags of maize will be distributed in areas such as Phalombe, Thyolo and Karonga among others.
On preparation for floods, Chilima said government is prepared to avoid recent errors.
“In defence force we have bought trucks, boats, helicopter to be used in contributing other necessities in difficult to reach areas,” he said.
According to him, World Food Programme (WFP) will distribute maize in unaccessible areas.
He added that the government will try its level best to provide the relief items.
He said: “Once beaten twice shy. We have prepared well to avoid the mistake we experienced during the recent floods.”
