Malawi national football team assistant coach Nswanzirimo Ramadhan has called for a more aggressive approach to this year’s Cecafa senior challenge cup scheduled to take place from 21 November to 6 December in Ethiopia.

The Malawi national team has departed today for Addis Ababa but there was collision between the technical panel and the Football Association of Malawi (Fam).

Ramadhan: An aggressive approach is needed.

The football governing body says the Flames should win the cup but the technical panel led by Mtawali was adamant saying it is not easy to bring the cup while they are in the process of building a new team.

But in an interview, Ramadhan says they will go with a positive mind even though the team is in a building process.

“We had good preparations but going to Cecafa we need to be positive. We need to be serious. At least if we reach quarterfinals that could be better. As you know we are building a new team that is dominated by youths so winning the cup will be lucky,” said Ramadhan.

The Flames are in group C together with Sudan, South Sudan and Djibouti and pundits say it is a fair group.

Meanwhile, Mighty Wanderers goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa has been recalled and is in the traveling team together with fellow debutant, Civo United’s in form midfielder Nelson Kangunje and Fisd Wizards captain Levison Maganizo.

The three time Cecafa champions will play against Sudan on Monday in their opening game.

  1. We need goals, don’t say they played a passing game though we lost the match,we want goals and you must know that the best attacking team is the best defending team,we need to attack take a risk then you will get results.lf we can’t score the first 20 mins then we are dead please encourage the players to concentrate and score at least the first 15 mins of the first half two goals then we are safe because this is the time when the opponents haven’t yet settled that’s technics in the game of soccer
