The Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has announced that it will stop receiving appeal letters from disqualified presidential aspirants on Friday 20th November 2015, at 12 midnight.

This follows the disqualification of three aspirants: Willie Yabwanya Phiri who is also a Karonga United sponsor, Paul Mzungu and Hubert Mfune.

According to FAM general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda, the aspirants were disqualified for not sending their personal particulars like profile files, photos and academic qualification.

‘‘We work as civil servants but aspirants opt to send their qualifications to the wrong addresses for their own reasons,” Nyirenda.

The general secretary also denied that he was involved in the disqualification of aspirants. ”Only the statues can make one to be disqualified, not me,” said Nyirenda.

As it stands, Wilkin Mijiga will battle it out with incumbent Walter Nyamilandu.

The incumbent was nominated by 7 of the 9 associations affiliated to the association.

Southern Region Football Association (SRFA), Northern Region Football Association (NRFA), Central Region Football Association (CRFA), Malawi Beach Soccer, Coaches Association of Malawi, Womens Football Committee and Youth Development Committee all nominated Nyamilandu, with the National Referees Committee (NRC) and Sulom nominating  and Mijiga.
