Malawi super league rookies,  Mzuni F.C were on top of their form when they outplayed and demolished Mighty Wanderers by 3 goals to nothing at Mzuzu stadium on Saturday.

Mzuni FC started the match on an intensity note; they looked the better side and dominated the whole first half from the first whistle.

The student’s first clear scoring chance of the match came in the 8th minute of the match when Pilirani Ndhluli’s left foot shot ended on the side netting.

A few minutes later Wanderers could have found their opener but Labbeson Chiyenda, the Mzuni goal minder, was too good to concede.

Wanderers striker Luke Milanze also had a chance to put the nomads ahead in the 37th minute of the match but his shot was well saved by Chiyenda.

As the first half was going towards the end, the students took their lead through a Victor Gondwe bullet header after he received a well driven free kick from Mabuchi Nkosi in the 43rd minute of the match.

After that goal, the Blantyre based giants started pressing for an equaliser but all their efforts yielded nothing as Mzuni fc defended jealously and the first half ended 1-0 in favour of the students.

Come second half, the Nomads started the match on a higher note as they were looking for an equalising goal in the first minutes of the second half.

Isaac Kaliati and Milanzi both had scoring chances to level the scoreline for the nomads but all their efforts were saved by Chiyenda.

The students again scored their second in the 55th minute of the match through a Victor Gondwe free kick.

Wanderers coach Elia Kananji responded to that goal by making two quick substitutions to add power upfront. He substituted Milanzi and Boston Kabango and replaced them with Muhammad Sulumba and Victor Nyirenda.

A few minutes later Mzuni fc could have scored their third goal of the match through Hudson Milanzi but his shot was denied by the upright woodwork.

Mzuni continued pressurising the nomads and they had their third goal on the 79th minute of the game through a beautiful Wacheta Mwenefumbo header after he received a nice ball from his goal minder Chiyenda to make it 3-0.

After that goal the nomads pressed for a consolation goal but the students defended well and the game ended 3-0 in favour of Mzuni.

The Nomads will tomorrow be hosted by Moyale Barracks at the same venue.
