Malawi crime: Three robbers killed in Blantyre

Three people suspected to be robbers were in the just ended week killed on their way from a robbery mission in Chigumula township in Blantyre.

Confirming the development, Limbe Police Deputy Spokesperson Pedzisai Zembeneko said the suspects were part of a gang that went to a bar in the township around 3am and stole amplifiers, bottles of beer and k37, 000 cash.

Blood.“It was on their way back when a group of people who suspected them of having stolen the items confronted them and some gang members run away but the three were caught”, Zembeneko said.

He added that two died on the spot and one them died on his way to hospital with the police.

According to Zembeneko, the police are yet to locate their relatives as the trio’s identities are not known.

He however appealed to people whose relations have been missing to go to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QUECH) mortuary to see among the three.

Zembeneko concluded by warning the public to avoid taking the law into their hands.
