DPP Councillor rapes, impregnates a 16 year old girl in Mulanje

Malawi Police in Mulanje district have arrested a Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Councillor, Biston Chikadewa for Nambiranje ward in Mulanje west constituency for raping and impregnating a 16 year old girl, Malawi24 has learnt.

According to information reaching this publication, the suspect , Biston Kadewere sexually assaulted the girl some time back at least six months ago but could not be arrested.

ArrestedIt is said that on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 some people in the area protested on the matter as to why police were not arresting the Councillor a development that forced the Mulanje police to nab the suspect on the same day.

Kadewere appeared in court on on Wednesday where he was answering charges of defilement.

In the court the Councillor pleaded not guilty and has now since being granted bail at a bond of K50,000.

The victim was a standard six girl at Ngumera primary school in the district.

She is now five months pregnant.
