Two Malawian pastors arrested for duping farmers

Malawi Police in Luchenza, Thyolo are keeping in custody two pastors  belonging to Holy Cross Ambassadors Church duping farmers of money amounting to MK 300,000, Malawi24 has learnt.

Police have identified the two as Peter Linyama, 32 and Ferguson Musayi.

According to Luchenza police senior superintendent Isiah Mlowoka said the two suspects went to Namseta village and deceived the villagers to pay money amounting to 10,000 kwacha each, and that they would in turn bring them 400 bags of fertilizer.

Arrested“We set an investigation on the mater as the concerned people reported it to us, now we have caught them ,and they are in our hands ” Mlowoka said.

Linyamawith the fellow pastor managed to convince the farmers and collected money from 30 farmers which is equivalent to 300,000 kwacha and the went missing,

Mlowoka added that the two also went to Molele village Traditional Authority Khwethemule in Thyolo and deceived others which yielded them 200,00 kwacha.

The two will soon appear in court to answer charges of obtaining money by trick contrary to section 319 of the penal code.

Linyama hails from Ngalande Traditional Authority Kalembo in Balaka, while Musayi is from Group village headman January Traditional Authority Chimaliro in Thyolo.
