Primary school teacher arrested for raping a pupil

ArrestedPolice in Malawi’s capital city,Lilongwe have nabbed Sofiano Samiton, an ODL teacher at Mchoka Primary School, for allegedly raping a standard 6 pupil.

National Police Publicist, Rhoda Manjolo, confirmed the development saying that Samiton allegedly raped the pupil in July this year in Kabudula village.

“The suspect who was an ODL teacher dragged the victim to a bush and forced himself into her and later the suspect told the victim that he will assist her during final examinations,” said Manjolo.

Police are urging the general public not to take advantage of vulnerable people especially younger girls or people with mental problems.

Rape cases have been on the rise in the country, but the Police and judiciary are trying their level best in dealing with perpetrators of rape.
