There are reported spiral misunderstandings at Malawi Defence Force (MDF) team Red Lions, hours after the sacking of  their longest serving coach Collins Nkuna, Malawi24 has established.

Nkuna has been sacked due to poor performances of the team in cup competitions and in the league. He has been sacked alongside team manager Mike Kamanga.

In an interview, Nkuna said he was called yesterday by his bosses informing him about the dismissal. “I can confirm that so far I have been sacked as coach for Red Lions,” said Nkuna.

“They are saying that we have been sacked due to poor performance of the team.”

However, Nkuna has acknowledged his bosses for all they have done for him during his time as Red Lions coach.

Meanwhile, MDF has assured Nkuna and members of his backroom staff that they will be given jobs at other MDF clubs.

“They have told us that very soon we will join other MDF teams,” said Nkuna.

Red Lions have struggled this season and over the weekend they lost 2-1 to fellow Soldiers Moyale Barracks.

But fresh reports Malawi24 has show that some players are protesting the decision and want management to bring Nkuna back.
