Malawi Blantyre based side Mighty Wanderers striker -made hero Muhammad Sulumba who only needed three minutes to score the winner after he replaced Jabulani Linje in the second half has sent a strong warning to Civo United after scoring for the Nomads to set a Standard bank cup knockout final with Civo United on the 31st of October 2015.
The Nomads forward came from the beach in the dying minutes of the second half to win it for the Lali Luban outfit.
The Nomads started fiercely with a high-pressing game and almost took the lead in the early as 3 minutes when Victor Nyirenda was set well only to miss the target with only some inches.
Blue Eagles recovered and finished the first half strongly, with John Soko producing a superb save stop to deny Nyirenda from scoring for the Nomads in the 40th minute of the match.
And, in a second half Blue Eagles coach substituted Charles Nkosi for John Malidadi who combined well with captain John Banda and set Schumaker Kuwali who missed the target with the Nomads goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa already beaten.
A few minutes into the second half Linje could have beaten Blue Eagles goalkeeper Soko but his shot was well saved by Soko.
Nine minutes before the final whistle, Linje was substituted and was replaced with Sulumba who only lasted in the field of play for 3 minutes and slotted the ball into the back of the net to win it for the Nomads.
After the game, Wanderers team manager Steve Madeira hailed his boys for the victory and promised to win the trophy when they play Civo United on 31 October this year.
To reach this far Civo United sent Big Bullets parking after coming from behind to beat them 2-1 at Kamuzu stadium on Wednesday.
Raphael Phiri scored twice for Civo United to cancelled out Chiukepo Msowoya’s first half goal.
The Standard bank knockout final on the 31st of October will be Mighty Wanderer’s third standard bank cup final where as it will be Civo’s second standard bank final.
