Malawi Police in Nsanje district over the weekend found a corpse of a 79 year old watchman who was murdered and had his head and private parts removed by unknown assailants.

According to Nsanje police assistant Commissioner Kirbe Kaonga the victim was identified as Gabriel Yohane of Nambwe village in the area of chief Malemia.

Blood. He said Yohane worked as a security guard at a maize mill in the area and was murdered while on duty.

“On Saturday morning we received a report from the owner of the maize mill Mr Richard Elias, we went to the crime scene where we only found blood stains.”

“We further went to the other side of the road of Nsanje Bangula where we found the corpse without head which was nowhere to be found,” said Kaonga.

Kaonga said they took the body for post-mortem where medical personnel discovered private parts of the 79 year old were removed.

Kaonga dismissed allegations that there is insecurity in the district saying some of the suspects come from neighbouring countries like Mozambique.

He appealed to the public not to live in fear since police have launched a manhunt for the culprits.
