Government says it is confident that this year’s subsidized input program will reach beneficiaries in time as it has engaged with private companies in the selling of the commodities.
This is a better development as compared to the previous years when the inputs used to reach farmers late which led to some farmers experiencing low yields.
Deputy National Director of farm inputs subsidy program in the ministry of Agriculture Osborn Tsoka said the ministry has already awarded contracts to suppliers and transporters of the inputs which are different from the previous years.
Tsoka further said they are moving in the right direction as the rains are a few months away and the program will be officially launched this month.
