Two first half goals from Emmanuel Zoya and unstoppable Nelson Kangunje were enough to help Civo United beat Malawi league rookies Mzuni FC 2-0 at Civo stadium in Lilongwe.

The match started at a slow pace and there was nothing to write about in the opening minutes as both sides failed to break each other’s defence.

However, as the first half went on Civo United’s Zoya and Kangunje put the civil servants in front.

In the second half both Mzuni and Civo were looking for their most important goals of the match.

Civo United
Cibo (in yellow), won 2 nil against Mzuni.

Mzuni FC midfielder Mabuchi Nkosi  did all he could have done to pull back a goal for the students but his efforts proved to be mission impossible as Civo defended their half jealously.

Civo United half could have also added some more goals in the second as they had a couple of chances but they lacked the finishing composure in front of goal.

The game ended 2-0 in favour of the civil servants and on Saturday the students from Mzuzu University will play the last of their two tricky away assignments when they face Blue Eagles at Nankhaka stadium in Lilongwe.

Elsewhere in the Super League, Moyale Barracks were held to a one    all draw by Airborne rangers at Chitowe ground in Dwangwa.

Joseph Dossa was on target for Airborne Rangers whereas Chrispine Fukizi scored for the Mzuzu based soldiers.
