Malawi leader Peter Mutharika is expected to meet cabinet Ministers to brain storm how he can go about with the newly adopted Sustainable Development Goals ( SDG’s).
The United Nations summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda which was held from 25 to 27 September 2015, in New York, convened as a high-level plenary meeting of the General Assembly setting up 17 new goals.
In his remarks on arrival at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) from the New York Mutharika attributed the failure to meet the previous SDG’s to lack of resources.
Mutharika added that the country is supposed to adopt new policies and implement the resources He stated, “I will be discussing with the cabinet on how best to implement the new sustainable goals especially by ensuring that resources are available through the national budget.”
More than 150 world leaders attended the UN Sustainable Development Summit from September 25-27 at UN headquarters in New York to formally adopt an ambitious new sustainable development agenda.
The momentous agenda will serve as the launch pad for action by the international community and by national governments to promote shared prosperity and well-being for all over the next 15 years.
According to UN General Secretary Ban-ki Moon, $25 Billion has been set aside in Initial Commitments to End Preventable Deaths of Women, Children and Adolescents by 2030.
