Dropped Flames players now released

The Malawi national football team has released dropped Flames players for them to play for their respective clubs in the top tier league over the weekend, before the national team leaves for Tanzania on Sunday.

Speaking with Malawi24, Football Association of Malawi competitions Manager Gomezgani Zakazaka said that the players will be able to play for their clubs since Flames final squad has been named.

“Players will be released for Saturday games only because the team leaves the country on Sunday,” said Zakazaka.

Coach Ernest Mtawali named a youthful squad which saw most players dropped from Mighty Wanderers unlike rivals Big Bullets.

Mtawali picked Stanley Sanudi and Isaac Kaliati from the Nomads side out of seven players called into camp with Big Bullets contributing four players namely, Dalitso Sailesi, Yamikan Fodya, Miracle Gabeya and Pilirani Zonda.

Mighty Wanderers goalie Richard Chipuwa was dropped.

The Lali Lubani side play Bullets on Saturday in a Blantyre derby that will be the most followed match of the day.

Flames will be leaving on Sunday for Dar es Salaam where it will play Tanzania as known as Taifa Stars in World Cup qualifier match on Wednesday.
