Unima Golden Jubilee celebrations date, venue announced

The Ministry of education science and technology through the University of Malawi (Unima) has name Kamuzu stadium to host Unima’s Golden Jubilee celebration scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 7:00 a.m.

In its press statement, the University of Malawi says His. Excellence, Arthur Peter Muthirika, the state president of the republic of Malawi and the Chancellor for the University of Malawi will be the guest of honor at the celebration.

According to the statement, five parade and cohort of graduates strealined by a period of dacades from 1965, shall march to the tune of the police and the Malawi Defence Force Band brass from the Blantrye Civic centre to the Kamuzu stadium.

Unima golden jubilee celebrations, now on

As a part of celebrating the Golden Jubilee, on 24 to 25 September, an International conference and Gala ball took place at Hotel Victoria and the institution has also organised a thoughtful leadership dialogue expected to be held at the Chancellor college from September 30 to 1st October.

The institution will on October 8 and 9 release T-Shirts and Golf shirts restrictedly to be worn by allumni who want to take part in the parade of the colour of their cohort which will be costing K3,200 and K6,200 respectively and a Unima cloth which is already being sold at K1,250 per meter and this could be used by all interested members of the public.

Other outlined activities to take place on this day include: confernment of honorary degrees, floats of scholarly exhibition by students and lectures, choral display and traditional dances, poetry recitals and drama performances, documentary cataloguing the life journey of the university Malawi in its 50 years of existence.

Furthermore, the day will also be spiced by netball and football matches between Unima veterans and current students.

This will be the most vital day in the history of Unima as proved by the launching University of Malawi’s flag together with its newly composed anthem.
