Super League week 16 round up: Bullets sets new record

After week 16 of Malawi’s elite League action holders Big Bullets is the only team which is still unbeaten after playing 16 league games and they have set a new record in the flagship league.

The week brought joy to some teams as they got the all needed points and sorrow to others who tested defeats in this weeks super league action.

Saturday 19th September, 2015 will be a day to remember to Mighty Wanderers players and their technical panel as they were forced to track by foot from Kamuzu stadium to their club house which is located in Chichiri by their supporters after losing to Kamuzu Barracks 1 nil.

Zinjani Yona scored the only goal in the second half of the game to help Kamuzu Barracks hand the Nomads their fourth defeat of the 2015 Super League season and their second consecutive defeat in just a week.

The Nomads have now played for more than 180 minutes without hitting the back of the net in the second round of Malawi’s top flight league and they are now on position 6 on the log from position 3.

Week 16 also exposed Azam Tigers poor run of form as they were beaten by Mafco fc 1 nil at Kalulu stadium in Nchalo, Chikwawa.

Azam Tigers have started the second round on a bad note as they have not registered a win in 3 super league outings and they have collected only 2 points from the possible 9 points.

Saturday was will also be a week to remember for Blue Eagles and their striker Schumaker Kuwali who helped his side to beat Civo United by 4 goals to 1 at Civo stadium.

Kuwali scored all the four goals for the Area 30 side and has become the first player to score 4 goals this season in a single match.

EPAC F.C also beat Airborne Rangers 1 nil at Chitowe stadium.

In another meeting, Moyale Barracks and Fisd Wizards shared the spoils after playing to a goalless draw at the Mzuzu stadium.

Come Sunday it was another day which separated boys from real men as teams were battling it out for the maximum points.

The defending champions Big Bullets hosted Red Lions at the Kamuzu stadium and both teams were looking to protect their records in the league.

But it was the unstoppable Big Bullets who protected their record and tarnished Red Lions record of being unbeaten away from home in this season.

Big Bullets demolished Red Lions by beating them 4-2 and increased their seasons points  to 38 and they have a 9 point lead with the second placed Blue Eagles which has 29 points.

Silver-Strikers
Silver Strikers also back to winning ways.

Silver Strikers maintained their 100 percent winning record in the second round action of Malawi’s top flight league after beating Dedza Young Soccer Saints by 2 goals to 1.

Peter Mponda’s Fisd Wizards completed their two away assignments from the North with another goalless draw against Mzuni fc and they are still anchoring the log table with 11 points.

STATISTICS

-A total of 17 goals have been scored out of the 8 games which were lineup in the week 16 of the Malawi’s elite league and out of the 8 games only two games ended in a goalless draw.

-Week 16 has also produced two red cards and the unlucky players who were sent off this week were Wanderers striker Mapopa Kaunda and Moyale Barracks midfielder Crispin Fukizi.
