Former rights activist Undule Mwakasungula has described Malawi Congress Party president (MCP) Lazarus Chakwera’s recent criticism of President Peter Mutharika as cheap politics.
Chakwera who is also leader of opposition last week organised a press briefing where he said Mutharika is a failure because he has failed to solve the country’s problems.
But Mwakasungula said Chakwera should have had a man to man talk with APM so that they should find solutions to the problems facing the country.
“I think the claims that President Peter Mutharika has failed the country are misplaced as we already know that a small economy like Malawi would go through problems,” said Mwakasungula.
He added that the president has already admitted that the country is going through problems and he is trying to find solutions to the challenges.
Mwakasungula further said that Chakwera being the leader of opposition should have been at the forefront helping the president to come up with solutions to the problems.
At the press briefing last week, Chakwera said Mutharika should not be allowed to continue ruling Malawi after 2019 because he has shown that he is not the man to save the country from various challenges.
“Every Malawian knows that the country is not failing because of challenges but because of failures. And most of those are failures of leadership,” said Chakwera.
Undule is entitled to his opinions as a bonafide citizen of Malawi and why are you people going for his jugular? Just because he has spoken against Chakwera?
