PP has a new Governor in the North.

A PP official who did not want to be named told Malawi24 that Chunga has been appointed by the party’s acting president Uladi Mussa.

The appointment means that Osborne Mchizi who was serving as acting governor will now step aside.

The source however did not say what Mchizi’s new position will be. The news of the appointment set social media abuzz on Wednesday with many PP supporters elated to see a young politician like Chunga hold a top position in the party.

Some were congratulating him for his appointment.

Chunga replaces Christopher Mzomera Ngwira who was fired from the PP in February this year for demanding that the party appoint former Vice President Khumbo Kachali to lead it in the absence of its leader Joyce Banda.

Ngwira made the calls after Banda chose Mussa as the PP acting president.
