The driver who was at large after a tipper he was driving was involved in a fatal road accident at Msiki is now under police custody at Mzuzu Police Station.
The driver has been identified as 45 year-old Wilfred Mandala of Kayipsya village in the area of Traditional Authority Changata in Thyolo district.
According to Public Relations Officer for Mzuzu Police Martin Bwanali, Mandala handed himself to Kanengo Police Station last Saturday and was sent to Mzuzu on Monday 13th September.
He is to answer the charge of causing death by reckless driving.
Four cars were involved in the accident that happened near Ekwendeni in Mzuzu. The cars were a minibus, the tipper, a lorry and another minibus.
The driver of the minibus which carried Chiputula CCAP Sunday School Choir was among the fifteen people who died. He breathed his last while receiving medical treatment.
The driver of the other minibus is still in hospital whereas the three tonner lorry driver was treated as an outpatient.
