Leading continental reality TV show Big Brother Africa has been cancelled for the second year running, organisers have confirmed.

With the show not happening last year, it was expected to hit the screens this year.

However, according to M-Net, the acclaimed reality show is not taking place as it is undergoing an evaluation process.

“M-Net would like to confirm that Big Brother Africa is not part of our upcoming programming schedule.”

M-Net indicated that they are currently busy with other regional Big Brother productions, with Big Brother Angola being the most current production which started on March 13 and would end on May 22, 2016.

“At the moment, the team is busy re-evaluating the strategic direction of Big Brother Africa. Be assured that when it returns, it will be bigger and better,” reads the statement from M-Net.

It further states: “We wish to thank Big Brother Africa fans far and wide for their continuous support over the past editions and promise that the show will go on, on DStv, with new and exciting productions in store from M-Net.”

In 2014, BBA Hotshots which was season 9 of the reality show, was postponed by a month after a fire swept through the Sasani Studios complex in Johannesburg, the seat of the Big Brother Africa house.

Then, last year, the show was also officially put on hold by the producers, M-Net and Endemol.
