Malawian Pastor arrested for raping 10-year old child

Malawi Police in Zomba are keeping in custody 45 year-old Illam Pentecostal Church Pastor Vincent Mateyu for raping a 10 year-old child.

Mateyu who has already pleaded guilty has been charged with defilement in accordance with Section 138 of the penal code. He appeared before Zomba Senior Resident Magistrate Court on Wednesday, January 6 to plead his case.

Zomba Police spokesperson Sergeant Patricia Sipiliano said the shameless monster raped the victim multiple times on November 18 and 19, 2015. He had coerced the young girl with K1,150 before proceeding to rape her violently.

The victim told her mother that the man of God had given her the money to silence her.

The girl’s mother who is also the accused person’s mother-in-law found that the victim had sperms in her private parts from her sexual abuser. The pastor may have taken advantage of the child’s trust in him because of the two families’ relationship.

When confronted by the victim’s mother, the evil pastor pleaded for forgiveness. The victim’s mother then reported the matter to Chinamwali Police Unit the following morning. The family members had initially agreed to protect the beastly man of colour by sweeping the case under the rug.

On December 31, Police arrested the disgraceful pastor who had been at large for 42 days. He hails from Binali village in the area of Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba district.
