Mangochi Secondary school in Malawi’s eastern region district will in December this year be celebrating 51 years of existence.

In a statement made available on Wednesday which has been signed by its Publicity Secretary, Rashid Amad Mapila,  the commemoration marking the 51 years of school’s existence, will take place on 5 December, 2015.

“The committee is pleased to announce anniversary celebrations marking 51 years of existence since its inception in 1964.”

According to Mapila, the celebrations will be held on 5th December 2015 at the school’s campus.

Mapila said the theme of anniversary celebrations is “consolidating the past, shaping mangochi’s academic future”.

According to the PRO, having critically evaluated the status of the school, observation remains that the school has and continue to register serious challenges that needs urgent attention from alumni.

Mapila said, The school has poor infrastructure, poor sanitation, few female hostels, lack of security for students as the school is not fenced just to mention a few.

Mapila said the committee is  proud of having produced a good number of professionals in different fields who are contributing greatly to the development of the country.

The committee is currently appealing for financial support towards the celebrations

“Therefore, we are calling upon all these former students and well wishers to fully participate in the celebrations and humbly appeal for financial/material contributions towards success of this event in particular and the school in general.” Said Mapira.

Manila said as part of activities leading to the main event, interface meetings with school’s alumni across all ages have been planned.

Mapila said for example in Lilongwe, the meeting shall take place on 7th November 2015 at Malawi College of Health Science whole.

Mapila said there is a strong belief that the alumni  will  join hands and work towards improving the current status of the school.

The PRO said the idea is provide conducive, friendly learning environment for current and future generations who might as well contribute greatly to the development of the country.

Meanwhile, the anniversary committee has opened an account with national bank of Malawi, Lilongwe branch, acc no. 1000742321.
