Blantyre Zero crowned FIFA/FAM Cup champions

Blantyre Zero Football club have been made one million Malawi Kwacha richer as they have been crowned champions of FIFA/FAM cup after beating Ntopwa Super Queens at Chiwembe.

The match took place on Sunday at Chiwembe technical centre in Blantyre.

Mtopwa Super Queens lost by 7-6 goals on penalties, which made them to end at position two at national level.

Assistant coach for Blantyre Zero Memory Chisamba said the match was  tough for both sides.

“I thank God for making us carry the day and we look forward to more wins,” said Chisamba.

Women football chairperson Stevelia Chalira said the tournament has been run very well and professionally.

“We urge for more competitions and patronage as these women have shown commitment to women football,” said Chalira.

Blantyre Zero have won a gold medal plus a trophy in addition to the one million kwacha,

Second placed Ntopwa went home with a silver medals and K750 000. DD Sunshine on position three with K500,000, while Moyale Sisters ended on position four with K250,000.

Blantyre Zero have been the  champions of the cup since 2013.
