Ben Hojani second half goal was enough to help Kamuzu Barracks to beat Mzuni fc 1 nil at Mzuzu stadium on Sunday in Malawi’s top tier league.

The match started on a fast pace as Kamuzu Barracks were in search for an early goal, and an attacking spirited performance is what best described the atmosphere of the match.

On the 7th minute they could have found the back of the net after the students defense was caught napping but the soldiers missed the target.

Kamuzu Barracks kept on dominating the match for close to 29 minutes of the first half as they were in search for their opener but Mzuni defended well as they did not allow the Lilongwe based soldiers to hit the back of the net in the opening minutes of the first half.

On the 30th minute of the game the students Mzuni fc could have found their opener through Mabuchi Nkosi who was only betrayed by his finishing touch after he was well set by Lughindiko Mushani.

After that chance Mzuni fc started dominating possession and the students coach substituted Vincent Chinthenga on the 40th minute of the first half and replaced him with Wacheta Mwenefumbo.

The first half ended in a goalless. Come the second half of the game, the students of Mzuzu University started the match on a higher note as they were in search for their opener.

In the first minute of the second half Mzuni fc could have found the back of the net through Victor Gondwe but his shot was denied by the wood work.

After that incident Kamuzu Barracks again started dominating possession in the second half and had a goal disallowed by the referee for a foul on Mzuni fc’s goalkeeper Kilipota Thole.

As the game was looking to be settling for a draw Kamuzu Barracks Ben Hojani scored for the soldiers in the 75th minute of the game.

After that goal Mzuni fc started pushing for an equalizer but their efforts yielded nothing as Kamuzu Barrack defended their goal jealously and won the match 1 nil.

The win means Kamuzu Barracks have collected 4 points from their two crucial assignments in the north against Moyale Barracks and Mzuni fc on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
